When leadership feels harder than you expected

You might be new to leadership, or a few roles in and still not feeling settled. Either way, we work on your real day-to-day challenges, not theory.

What leadership coaching focuses on

Leadership coaching isn’t generic skills training or motivational talks. It’s practical support for the real challenges you’re facing right now.

We work across three interconnected areas:

Leading yourself

Build confidence and steadiness so you can lead without second-guessing.

– Building confidence in your decisions
– Managing self-doubt, pressure and expectations
– Clarifying what kind of leader you want to be
– Developing boundaries and sustainable ways of working

Leading others

Develop trust, ownership and clearer communication in your team.
– Delegating without micromanaging
– Navigating difficult conversations
– Building trust and accountability in your team
– Shifting from doing the work to enabling others

Leading the work

Create direction and momentum without carrying everything yourself.

– Setting priorities and communicating them clearly
– Moving from reactive firefighting to more strategic thinking
– Reviewing what’s working and adjusting what isn’t

Practical support across mindset, people and performance – not just one piece in isolation.

Why leadership feels different to everything else you’ve done

Most of your career probably worked like this:

Effort → results
Control → outcomes
Doing → progress

You got good at your job by being close to the work, reliable, thorough, the person others could count on.

Leadership changes that equation completely. Once people are involved, working harder stops producing the same results. People are unpredictable. They’re motivated by different things. They don’t always do it the way you’d do it.

So you either take it back and do it yourself, or you let it go and spend the next 48 hours worrying about whether it’ll be done right.

You assumed you’d figure it out, the same way you figured everything else out. That’s also what the people who promoted you assumed.

That’s usually where the self-doubt starts.

What changes with the right support

Coaching won’t turn you into a different person. It will help you get noticeably better at the parts of leadership that are currently costing you the most energy.

    Clients I work with typically:

    • Start delegating without needing to check everything
    • Handle difficult conversations and stop dreading them
    • Build teams that take ownership rather than waiting to be told
    • Feel steadier in meetings, decisions and under pressure
    • Stop carrying everything themselves
    • Find that leadership starts to feel manageable, sometimes even rewarding

    Who this is for

This works best if you’re responsible for people, whether formally or informally, and leadership feels harder than you expected it to.

It’s particularly well suited if you were promoted because you were excellent at your job and are now expected to lead people with limited support. Maybe you’ve done some training or read the books, but theory and real life turn out to be very different things.

You don’t need to be in crisis. You just need to recognise that what you’re doing now isn’t quite working, and that it doesn’t have to stay that way.

It’s probably not the right fit if you’re looking for job search support, or if you’re planning a complete career change.

    What working together looks like

Sessions are 60 minutes, held weekly or fortnightly. We work on real challenges from your workplace, not hypothetical scenarios. Each session gives you space to think through what’s happening, and you’ll leave with clear next steps to try before we meet again.

    We work across four areas:

    Clarity

Getting clear on what good leadership looks like for you, where to focus your energy, and what success means in your role.

    Mindset

Working through self-doubt, perfectionism, and the imposter thoughts that get in the way of confident leadership.

    Action

Applying what we discuss directly to real situations: team conversations, delegation, boundaries, managing up.

    Accountability

Staying on track between sessions so that what we discuss in the room actually translates into change in your day-to-day work.

Coaching can be short-term or longer-term depending on what you need. We can discuss what makes sense for your situation on the discovery call.

    Client experiences

Before working with Angie, I was feeling significant imposter syndrome in my leadership role. Her approach helped me recognise the successful leadership work I was already doing, and gave me the tools to meet challenges head on. I’ve not only gained confidence in my leadership but also seen this filter down to an improvement in our company operations.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from coaching, but the sessions were structured, practical and genuinely useful. Angie helped me set clear goals and break them down into manageable steps. It’s been a great confidence booster, and I’ve since been promoted to Associate Director.

Angie’s coaching created tangible improvements to working practices and relationships across our organisation. Her questioning technique challenged our people to examine their assumptions and explore new perspectives, leading to genuine insights rather than surface-level solutions. I’d recommend her to any organisation seeking a coach who delivers measurable results.
